Working Bee

Roll up your sleeves and complete some
spring cleaning duties at one of our Houses.

Feel like you could get your hands dirty and get stuck into physical work? Then a Working Bee might be the perfect option for your team.  As an optional extra your team are welcome to cook lunch in our kitchen and get to know any of the families that may be around* not mandatory.  Supporting the families of seriously ill children at Ronald McDonald House is an amazing and unforgettable team-building experience that demonstrates your organisation’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, encourages staff engagement, and boosts morale.

Jane from Canaccord Genuity Australia said:
Our teams love supporting Ronald McDonald House through the cook programs. Knowing you are really helping is very rewarding personally and spending time with the families and hearing their stories and more about RMHC is very humbling. I would strongly suggest more organisations get behind this program, it’s very fulfilling.

What's Involved?

  • What: Your team will have the opportunity to directly impact families by assisting with any outstanding tasks that may need to be completed.

  • When: Fridays with a maximum of 6 - 10 participants (Monash House is strictly limited to 6 participants)

  • Time: 9:45am- 2:00pm

  • Cost:

    • Parkville House, North Fitzroy House and Monash House: $1,000
    • Hobart House: $300
    • What you will be doing: Working Bees at our Houses may involve housekeeping duties such as general cleaning and maintenance tasks, assembly of furniture, organisation/redecoration of spaces, gardening and many other maintenance tasks required at the time.

We are a not-for-profit organisation that relies solely on donations and community support. As financial support is vital for us to continue to provide this support, a donation is required to secure your spot in our Group Volunteering Program.

Your generous donation helps cover the cost of running this program; including equipment upkeep, volunteer training, staffing, and of course keeping our doors open to more families than ever before.

Health & Wellbeing

Our main priority is to always keep our families and yourselves safe and healthy. This means we must ensure we follow some guidelines as we welcome guests to our houses.

  • We are mask friendly-although face masks are not mandatory in our Ronald McDonald House Charities Facilities, you and your team are more than welcome to wear one for the protection of yourself and families.
  • Please do not visit the House if unwell. Anyone experiencing symptoms on the day will be turned away for the health and safety of families staying with us.
